A highly Summer active cocksfoot with a very high level of digestibility and nutritive value.
ALMOST CONSIDERED REVOLUTIONARY - A HIGHLY PALATABLE COCKSFOOT.

Ideally suited to high production dairy or beef systems and, in Australia, a replacement for Porto Cocksfoot in areas receiving in excess of 700mm average annual rainfall.

Pasture type and use:

Megatas is a valuable forage plant used in long term perennial pastures for high rainfall sheep, beef and dairy industries and is useful in hay production.

Produces a large bulk of highly palatable, high protein and high energy forage all year round.

Best suited to a high input, rotational cattle grazing system, although it will persist if closely grazed by sheep.

To maintain the high feed quality of this cultivar, grazing should take place prior to the plant reaching the 5 leaf stage.

Rainfall:

Suited to high rainfall areas of 600mm+ annual rainfall.

Sowing:

Seed can be drilled, direct drilled or broadcast.

Do not sow any deeper than 10mm.

Sowing rates:

6-8kg/Ha alone.

2-3kg/Ha in a mix.
