Spanish Cocksfoot // Dactylis glomerata var. hispanica
Generally considered as a replacement for Porto Cocksfoot in areas with less than 700mm annual rainfall in southern Australia.
Uplands has persisted now for 12 years grazing at the driest site in Tasmania.
- High tiller density
- Very drought tolerant
- Some summer activity
- Persists well under hand grazing
- Palatable
- Very tolerant to high levels of soil aluminium and acid soils

- Temperate and Mediterranean climates in;
- Southern Australia
- Pacific North West USA
- Southern Europe
- Central Chile
- Cape Province, South Africa
